Our official Memrise-created courses are complete with literal translations, high-quality videos (on selected courses) and audio recorded by native speakers.
These courses have been meticulously designed by our in-house team of linguists, language specialists and experts of language acquisition, to create the best language-learning experience ever. 🙂
As the name suggests, community-created courses (or user-generated courses) have been created by Memrise users. These courses are not monitored or tested by Memrise and not all our premium features are available on them.
For any doubts, complaints, translation errors or suggestions on community created courses, please post in our community forum in an attempt to get in touch directly with the course creator.
⚠️ Please note that:
- Learn with Locals and Grammar are only available on selected Memrise-created courses (simply click on the name of the feature to see a list of available courses)
- Pronunciation mode is only available on selected Memrise-created courses
- On iOS, Speed Review is not available on community-created courses
- Listening Skills is only available on those community-created courses that have audio files and whose creator enabled this mode

How can I recognise official courses from community-created courses?
On web, you will be able to see the name of the course creator. All Memrise-created courses also have the language name and the course number in their title (from 1 to 7), e.g. French 5, Spanish (Spain) 3, Japanese 1, etc.
We're currently exploring ways to make this clearer on our mobile apps.
