We're excited to announce that we're expanding access to our Early Access experience for users of the iOS Memrise app and website!
Users who select Beginner level on any language pair upon signing up will be automatically opted into Early Access, giving them the chance to try out our new learning experience.
What are the benefits of the Early Access experience?
Not only will you be the first to try out learning a language faster by having the freedom to choose topics that interest you, but you'll also have the opportunity to contribute towards shaping its future.
Your feedback is essential for helping us to work on improvements and new developments for you and others learning a language with Memrise.
How do I opt out?
If you do decide to opt out, you can do so by following these instructions:
iOS
- Go to your user profile (tap the 👤 Profile icon in the top right corner)
- Tap on ⚙️ Settings
- Then tap on “Early Access”
- Tap on the toggle button to opt-in or out
Web
Click your profile icon in the top right of the Home page and click ‘Exit Early Access’. You can also go here to rejoin Early Access at any time.
Why can’t I join Early Access?
- The Early Access experience is available on web, iOS mobile devices (including iPad) running iOS 13 or later and Android devices running Android 7 or later.
- While we work on optimising the content, Early Access is not yet available for all languages.
Changes if you leave Early Access
If you decide to opt out of Early Access, you may notice some differences:
- Non-pro users will see adverts on the Classic experience.
- Some features and modes are limited to Premium users and official courses. See more here.
- Learning is split into separate courses. Rather than choosing a language, you will need to search for courses using the Discover button or at memrise.com/courses.
- If you opt out of Early Access, you will start a new daily goal. All other progress will be synced.
- Community Courses will be available via the Discover tab at the top of the web page after logging in.
Changes if you join Early Access
If you opt into Early Access from the Classic experience, you will see some differences:
- Early Access allows you to store your learning inside in one language, instead of split over individual courses.
- Each language is split into Scenarios, which allow you to focus on a single topic that interests you. You may see some completed Scenarios when joining, as the system records which items you have already learnt in Classic.
- There are no adverts or limited modes. Instead, users have the option to unlock extra Scenarios by signing up to Premium.
- Only Memrise’s official courses are supported at this time. To continue any community-created courses, please switch back to Classic.
- Early Access does not yet have Daily Goals and Streaks. To maintain streaks, users will need to continue learning on Classic.
- Some Review modes are not yet available for Early Access.
- Learning stats are not yet available for Early Access.
Don’t worry though, you can opt in or out again at any time by following these instructions.
How do I give feedback?
Learners using Early Access will be invited to answer a few questions in a feedback survey. Look out for these surveys on your home page and at the end of learning sessions.
