Auto learning (previously known as "auto grow") is a testing feature available exclusively on a course you've created. It plants and grows the words automatically, so that you can test out watering the course without having to go through learning everything manually.
To auto-learn a level, go to the course homepage and click on the level. From the drop-down list labelled Options, select Auto learning.
